An Unusual View of the Book of Revelation

The Gospel of Luke suggests to me that Jesus’s all-encompassing message in his ministry is for us, as humans, to seek the Kingdom of God (the Kingdom of Heaven), and that to find the Kingdom of God one must have a godly soul.  (A previous essay, titled A Theoretical Response to the Gospel of Luke, provides more on my ideas about the Gospel of Luke, how it guides us to a godly soul, and that with a godly soul we are on our way to the Kingdom of God.)

A godly soul is found in our consciousness.   Seeking a godly soul is a conscious effort – it involves that part of the brain where consciousness is found.   The Kingdom of God is found through a godly soul, by using our consciousness.  The conscious effort that is involved in this finding encompasses rationality.  The rational consciousness leads to a godly soul.

Beyond the workings of the brain that gives us consciousness, are workings in the brain that are not conscious but have major influences on our development.  These non-conscious workings are referred to as the sub-conscious.  These sub-conscious workings, in my experience, are influential in life – in ways that are not obvious, in ways that seem greatly influential in controlling who we are and what we become.

Therefore, although we find the Kingdom of God through conscious efforts, because of the influence of the sub-conscious on our consciousness, we should think about the sub-conscious as it relates to a godly soul.  I suggest that this is what the Biblical Book of Revelation can do for us because if we view the writings dealing with the many mystical characters and their actions in Revelation, we are in fact finding representations of dreams, human dreams, which serve as a window into the sub-conscious.

In my dreams, I find much that represent such conditions as fears, uncertainties, incompleteness’s, un-resolved issues, and incomprehensiveness’s.  And I find in the mystical writings in Revelation the same characteristics (fears, uncertainties, incompleteness’s, un-resolved issues, and incomprehensiveness’s).  But I also find in Revelation passages that provide comfort and guidance, and a sense of the need for a godly soul, in response to the fears, uncertainties, incompleteness’s, un-resolved issues, and incomprehensiveness’s that the mystical characters represent.  Just as when I wake up I am somehow able to deal with fears, uncertainties, incompleteness’s, un-resolved issues, and incomprehensiveness’s in my dreams, I believe Revelation is providing to us that through having a godly soul we will find the Kingdom of God and the way of dealing with fears, uncertainties, incompleteness’s, un-resolved issues, and incomprehensiveness’s that are represented both by the mystical characters in Revelation and our dreams.
